Boat Insurance Quote

Get a Boat Insurance Quote Today

Being the owner of a boat is a liberating feeling. To know that I can at any time of my choosing just go out to sea and reach the horizon is a luxury that I know only a happy few can experience. However, the exhilarating feeling can be tempered by real world concerns and uncertainties. No matter how careful you are with your possessions, things could go against your favor, leaving you with nothing the next moment. Recognizing that anything could happen to your boat should sober you to ask for a boat insurance quote today.

There are a variety of mishaps that could occur with a boat, even when it is not in use and seemingly docked safely. Indeed, many insurance claims are for occurrences that do not involve the presence of the boat owner or anybody on the boat during which it sustained damages. During especially bad storms, it is not uncommon to hear of even a large yacht being washed away into the sea and irreparably damaged, or at the very least, with its compartments flooded. Repair of such damage can amount to the thousands, if not millions.

It is also possible for theft to occur, and it is uncertain whether you will ever get to see your boat again. Even if you do, damages may have been done to it.

And then there are the mishaps that occur while on a cruise. Apart from being caught in a storm, there is the possibility of getting caught in a huge reef or rock formation, which poses a danger to human lives as well.

The bottom line is that anything can happen. And it is best to act with foresight than to act in hindsight.

Naturally, the premiums you pay on your boat will vary according to the make, model and price of your particular boat. Whether it is a yacht or a simple fishing boat, there are plans that you can avail of, that will help you sleep a little bit sounder at night.

Boat insurance is something I have always taken into account when calculating costs of the maintenance of my boat. I have made it a point not just to have my boat registered, but to have it insured. There is no reason why I ought to act in the spirit of minimal compliance to the law. Mere acquiescence to government regulations will not serve my interests in the long term.

The only reason boat insurance is not as demanded as, say, car insurance, is because boats are usually associated with those who could normally pay for insurance at their initiative. You don’t have to be rich to own a boat, of course – just ask a simple fisherman. And I have to be modest – I am not exactly a silver spoon kind of guy. I just love the sea and boating a lot. I know I made a great decision years back to ask for a boat insurance quote. Nothing unfortunate has happened since then, fortunately, but in the event of anything, I know I am prepared.
